Pocket Survival Kit Skills at Gossman Knives in Whiteford, MD July 11, 2026

Everyone should have a pocket survival kit and know how to use it. The easy part is sourcing and buying the gear. The more challenging part is learning how to use it. Join Kevin Estela at Gossman Knives in Whiteford, MD for an 8 hour course on how to be resourceful with limited resources. This course is very pocket or belt-sized kit focused but concepts will be presented that apply to larger kit items and wilderness survival and bushcraft as a whole. 

Topics included:
-Kit design, component overview, roundtable discussion
-Water collection and treatment
-Utility tools and problem solving
-Survival Kit Fishing Techniques
-Urban survival considerations
-Knife use, knots, and fire starting 
-Pocket "Survival" kit vs Pocket "Emergency" kit
-If time allows: Bamboo containers and bamboo water boiling

Packing List:
-Clothing to function comfortably in July heat and weather conditions along with good footwear. 
-Swiss Army Knife or Multi-tool
-BIC Lighter
-Your personal Pocket Survival Kit or collection of smaller survival kit items to be organized and trained with. 
-Food and water to consume throughout the day. 
-Notepad and pen (Camera optional and photos are encouraged)

As an added bonus, Scott Gossman will have his best-selling PSK knives for sale at the event. These can be reserved or ordered ahead of time with your class registration. While supplies last.

This event is an outdoor event and there will be cover in case of bad weather. It is a comfortable location to train at and there are nearby bathroom facilities.
